Community Outreach Specialist
About the Role
Love all things double reed? Join us! We’re on the hunt for a creative, reed-loving human to help us grow and connect the double reed community across Canada. As a Community Outreach Specialist, you will create educational resources, establish partnerships with institutions and artists, and build meaningful connections with players across Canada. You’ll also get hands-on experience on the ins and outs of running a small business—marketing, customer support, sales, and behind-the-scenes strategy. With mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs, you'll not only support the double reed community but also gain tools and insight to help build your own artist brand along the way.

Roles and Responsabilites
- Write blog posts for the RSC website on double reed topics such as reed making, playing tips, repertoire, etc.
- Create engaging, short-form video content and infographics for various social media channels.
- Serve as admin, recruit new members, and monitor posts on the “Canadian Bassoonists and Oboists” Facebook group.
- Conduct research on double reed events nationwide and establish partnerships with local event organizers.
- Institutional outreach to schools and music programs, and facilitate enrollment in the student discount program.
Qualifications
- Passion for and knowledge of double reed instruments (bassoon, oboe, etc.) and the double reed community.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write engaging and informative blog posts and social media content.
- Experience with or interest in creating short-form video content and infographics for social media.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
- Ability to conduct research and establish partnerships with organizations, institutions, and artists.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse group of musicians, educators, and artists.
- Willingness to learn and grow in a small business environment, with an interest in arts entrepreneurship and brand development.
- A self-starter with a creative mindset and a passion for community-building.
